An actual weekend

For the first time in a while we just got to the end of a normal, two day weekend – where Lila didn’t have to work and I didn’t have to drive to and from Fulham and look after the children for a rather long day. The reason? Lila resigned a couple of weeks ago and with the holidays she was owed – pretty much only had to work out a week or so of her notice.

So that’s the end of the Chelsea & Westminster era for now at least. Nine years Lila has spent there. From our early days in Fulham and through Seb and Bella arriving and growing during our time in Egham. Can’t say I’m sorry to see the end of it but I’ll probably miss the money. Lila plans taking the summer off and then getting something local – maybe at St Peters.

I’ve just updated the travel website that I set up for our NZ trip. A lot of the posts were written this weekend – so rather brief and probably missing lots of key activities that we did in NZ. But there’s pictures. Have a look here.

So to other news. Sebastian has been settling back into school; swimming lessons are going well, cooking classes are good (with mostly good results brought home) and he’s wokring on his reading, writing and sounds. Naturally he’s far happier spending time on the laptop or Nintendo…but generally he’s in good form and doing most of the right things.

Isabella is currently a nightmare in terms of sleeping. Ever since she shared our hotel room, she has disliked going to bed alone. So current form is to need mum or dad to stay with her while she goes to sleep. Not great but hopefully she’ll move on soon. Apart from that she’s happy and continuing her development into princess status. Hard to believe she’ll be two at the end of June.

House-wise – about six months after the original plan date we finally have a functioning bathroom and shower. There’s been so many things to fix and I’m sure there’s more to discover. Our original builder (Remi Laskowski) simply didn’t know what he was doing and in the end was dishonest and left before completing the job. Still, we think everything now has been made good and standing in our new shower feels pretty good.

So that’s it. Thinking of mum and her treatment starting this week. Busy week with work coming up. Another post soon.
